Tell us a bit about yourself – Who is Ann Sinclair

Answer: Hi, my name is  Ann Sinclair and. I specialize in mental wellness in the areas of holistic therapy and supplements. As a former teacher when my son became ill with Lyme disease, not only did I want to help him but I also have a passion for others who were seeking holistic treatments and supplements. I love educating people about the importance of mental wellness. Our mental wellness is important to every aspect of our life. What is mental wellness? Mental wellness is our stress resiliency, mood (are you happy, sad, anxious, or depressed), energy level, focus, pressure management, and your mental and physical activity. Many times we think to feel tired, bloated, lack of focus is normal and it doesn’t have to be!

Ann, there are days when I feel very sluggish, lack focus, feel heavy, why is this?

Answer: Great Question Cristina! Feeling sluggish, lack of focus, and feeling heavy can be due to imbalance in the microbiome. We can eat right, exercise, and feel like we are doing everything right and still feel this way! This is because our gut produces 60-90% of our neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, Gaba, norepinephrine. So when our gut microbiome is out of balance we can feel fatigue in the body and brain, sad, confused, tense, hungry, heavy, bloated, stiff/sore. The gut and brain are constantly sending signals back and forth so if your gut is out of balance these signals are going to the brain telling it how you should feel. The brain communicates through an extensive network known as the gut-brain axis (nerves, neurotransmitters, hormones, and immune system). All of these need to be working efficiently in order to feel optimum. So if you feel like you are doing everything right or you feel like you can’t get motivated to even start then we need to look more into the gut microbiome!

  • How can we improve our mental health

Answer: Thera re 5 Ways you can improve your mental focus

  1. Meditate – Meditation can be overwhelming but it is easy to learn. There are many ways to meditate but one is to sit quietly and not think of anything.  I tell my clients when first starting to meditate to put a timer on the clock for 5 minutes so you aren’t constantly worried about the time. Sit upright in a chair with your feet on the ground or sit right on the floor in a nice relaxing atmosphere. Try to meditate before work and during breaks.. If thoughts come to your head, acknowledge them, and let them go. As you practice the thoughts will come less and less and you will be able to relax more. You can join Cristina’s Mindfulness Meditations on Mondays here.
  2. Body scan- Take a moment to sit or lay still with your eyes closed. Take a couple of deep breaths from your abdomen.  Start at the top of your head and go through each body part down to your toes. Check to see where you feel tension in your body. Start with your forehead, back of head, eyebrows,  jaw, neck, shoulders, arms, abdomen, chest, hips, legs, feet. If you feel any tension, relax that part of your body. Do this a couple of times a week and notice if you are holding tension in the same places.
  3. Environment – Whether you have been working from home or going to the office make sure your desk or area is clutter-free. When your area is more organized you can think more clearly.
  4. Eat healthy and drink water– A Mediterranean diet is excellent for mental wellness but there are certain foods that can help. Walnuts, almonds, blueberries,  avocados, fish, and my favorite chocolate can all help with mental focus. Drinking water is important for getting nutrients throughout your body and removing toxins. Also, many times we think we are hungry when we are actually thirsty. If you feel hungry, take a moment to drink water.
  5.  Movement – Movement is important whether it be yoga, walking, dancing, running, cardio, weight lifting, gardening, hiking. We often think of movement as running or cardio but the best movement is the type that makes us feel good and you enjoy.

  •  How does your product/service support women with the gut-brain health

Answer: If you are looking for more information about Gut-Brain Axis connection to mental wellness let me know. Often we eat correctly, exercise, and meditate and still don’t feel well. This can be due to not getting the beneficial bacteria at birth, taking certain medications, antibiotics, not having a balanced diet, over the counter medicines and so on. If you feel this is you and you are wanting to make a healthy, holistic this could be the answer.  I work with a gut-brain axis product that is specific to mental wellness (mood, stress management and resiliency, anxiety, sadness, sleep, fatigue, mental focus, motivation, and mental and physical activity) and can be used for both adults and children on the wellness continuum.  All of the ingredients are vegan, holistic, non-gmo, and excellent sourcing. If you are interested in my services or holistic supplements or just have questions please contact Ann Sinclair at 616-450-1174.

Thank you for reading, thank you for taking the time to learn and take action to improve your health, and in this case, your relationship with a difficult ex, to support your health and your kids.

Blessings,

Cristina Pettersen
