Hi dear friend:
As I came out of my teenage years and entered adulthood I have found a need to work through issues in my past which had led to a weak self-confidence and much much deserved self-care.
It was just after over 30 years of struggling with difficulty overcoming problems and fears such as: being rejected and not being good enough, despite having done and achieved so much in different levels, that I realized how much work I needed to do in my self-esteem.
Therefore I started working on improving both my health and my wellbeing.
Au contraire to what we might have been taught or believe, being harsh with ourselves or using negative self-talk is not the best way to keep us motivated and striving for more. We do not help people by pointing out their flaws or giving them critique. That seldom works. Furthermore, constant negative criticism from our friends, family or even at work will not help the ultimate goal, make us feel better and loved. It will end up making us feel not good enough, unworthy or thinking we can´t do better.
How does it work
It works the same way with ourselves, the more love we give ourselves the better we feel. Stop for a moment and notice: “How do you speak to yourself? When you make a mistake or don´t succeed to achieve some goal or task, are you harsh on yourself? I personally was very focused on results and would hear the voices or negative talk thinking about my failure. Once I read the book by the amazing and inspiring Louise Hay, I realized how much power I had in my life.
Everything starts to improve once we realize that when we start to heal, everything around us changes as well.
How to do mirror work1
This is a powerful technique to learn about self appreciation and self-love.
First thing in the morning, after you get out of bed, and then any time you are in front of a mirror, take a look at your best friend.
Look into your eyes and breathe. What are the feelings and thoughts that come to mind when you do this? Are you immediately critical about your appearance?
Now, take a breath again and say to yourself: I love you.
Repeat these words as often and as many times as possible and continue breathing. Do this exercise each day if possible, whenever you start the day.
My personal experience using mirror work:
I have been doing the mirror work at least a couple of years and yes, at the beginning there is so much judgement and negative self-talk going on that we are not aware of until we start doing this exercise. I have gradually felt better and using mirror work has helped me a lot whenever this inner voice started demanding more of me, and when I have felt that I needed a boost in confidence. After all, I am my best friend and starting the day by being kind to myself using mirror work has helped me immensely.
Later on depending on your needs you may add some words like:
You are good enough as you are, I love you.
You are doing the best that you can, I love you.
With mirror work you start by taking a look at your best friend. Get ready to start the healing process and increase your self-esteem.

There are many additional ways for you to work in your self-esteem, I give you some here:
– Practice meditation every day. It allows you to manage better stress and improve focus. Heal and release negative emotions, among other benefits. You can use binaural beat brainwaves to help you enter deep meditative states reliably and easily, reduce stress and to increase concentration.
– And also try to exercise regularly, it affects your self-esteem.
In addition, as I have mentioned before, one of the most amazing and inspiring persons and authors in the holistic healing realm is Louise Hay. Her books are exceedingly inspirational, including her personal story of healing cancer using the power of thoughts. Read her wonderful book: You Can Heal Your Life, published by Hay House. This is one of the books that has inspired me and helped me understand the body – mind relationship.
